The Flickertail Times is a satirical news blog featuring all things North Dakotan, founded by our beloved editor-in-chief, Teddy Meadowlark. Born and raised in North Dakota, Teddy has traveled the state, and continues to travel the prairie to this very day, drawing inspiration for his stories from the people and events shaping North Dakota.
Face it. North Dakota is an interesting place. I mean, where else can you die of heat stroke one day and hypothermia the next? We’re home to rolling prairies, endless diversity (German and Norwegian), countless cultural experiences (Norwegian festivals and pow-wows), and a political landscape as colorful as our badlands (fifty shades of red). If you’ve yet to visit this spectacle of a place, take comfort knowing North Dakota serves as an unwavering Polaris of our republic — the northern most point of reference. Yes, we are a guiding star in the winds of change, too stubborn (perhaps too German), to shift since the beginning of time.
Those of us who call the frozen prairie home, know that we’re an interesting bunch of people that live in in an interesting place. How unique are we? Well, you may need to spend some some quality time figuring that out as long as you’ve got a few years of spare time. Just don’t ask us where in North Dakota you’ll find Mt. Rushmore, because we’re not telling.
And while we’re not keen on change, sometimes change happens anyways here and we love to report on it, in our own special, unique way.
If you like what we’re doing, send us an email at: [email protected]. And if you don’t like what you’re doing, perhaps you should ask someone where to find Mt. Rushmore after all.
